Originally from Australia, Emma moved to Bergen in 2016 after falling in love with the city and a local guy. Emma taught Scandinavian film at the University of Oslo for two years before discovering her true passion – tourism! She has been working as a local guide ever since. For a few years Emma worked as a tour leader, taking groups on Hurtigruten, to Svalbard, and all over Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Estonia and Iceland for both summer and the winter northern lights seasons. Now Emma is back in Bergen and ready to show people how great the city is!
Emma started I Love Bergen in 2021 to give visitors to Bergen the best possible experience!
This is how mesmerising Bergen can be. I was born in Poland where I graduated from Dutch language and culture and then came here in 2013. It was supposed to be an adventure for a year or two but both me and my husband found our home in Bergen. I have been guiding ever since I moved here. I love my job and wouldn’t change it for anything else. Bergen is about great people, fascinating history and beautiful nature at your doorstep.
Greetings from your local Bergenser. Born and raised here in Bergen, Eirik lived near the top of Mount Fløyen for most of his life and now lives in Sandviken, just a few minutes outside the city centre. He has worked at different restaurants, cafes, museums, office buildings, and more across Bergen for years, and he knows all the best parks and waterholes. With a master’s in Digital Culture, he is currently applying for multiple available PhD positions around the country while studying English literature and culture at the University of Bergen and working at the University Museum for Natural History. His favourite pastimes are hiking in the mountains, swimming, bowling, and frisbee.
Hailing from Norway’s capital and Bergen’s eternal rival city Oslo, Dane moved here in 2013 intending to stay for a maximum of three years. Over a decade later he’s still here, having studied history at the local university and fallen in love with the city (though well aware that with him being from Oslo, that is a feeling that will never be reciprocated).
Born in England I moved to Bergen in 1994 to help set up a daughter company for the Scottish people I worked for. I´ve been here ever since. Eventually the company moved to Haugesund, we tried it there but missed Bergen too much, so we returned, and I started guiding in 2015. I love it and wouldn’t change my job for anything. Bergen is magical, it has it all. Apart from guiding, my favourite pastime is walking my dog in the mountains and forests around Bergen.
Neal fell in love with Bergen about 15 years ago and finally gave up and exchanged London for Bergen in the spring of 2022. He’s a musician/artist, communicator and story teller who gets excited about the history of Bergen/Norway and draws on his background in linguistics, radio and music. Was Davy Crockett at Disneyland California and went to the cinema with Queen Elizabeth II while he was living in London.
