About Our Guides

Meet the locals!

Emma

Originally from Australia, Emma moved to Bergen in 2016 after falling in love with the city and a local guy. Emma taught Scandinavian film at the University of Oslo for two years before discovering her true passion – tourism! She has been working as a local guide ever since. For a few years Emma worked as a tour leader, taking groups on Hurtigruten, to Svalbard, and all over Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Estonia and Iceland for both summer and the winter northern lights seasons. Now Emma is back in Bergen and ready to show people how great the city is!

Emma started I Love Bergen in 2021 to give visitors to Bergen the best possible experience!

Magda

This is how mesmerising Bergen can be. I was born in Poland where I graduated from Dutch language and culture and then came here in 2013. It was supposed to be an adventure for a year or two but both me and my husband found our home in Bergen. I have been guiding ever since I moved here. I love my job and wouldn’t change it for anything else. Bergen is about great people, fascinating history and beautiful nature at your doorstep.

Eirik

Greetings from your local Bergenser. Born and raised here in Bergen, Eirik lived near the top of Mount Fløyen for most of his life and now lives in Sandviken, just a few minutes outside the city centre. He has worked at different restaurants, cafes, museums, office buildings, and more across Bergen for years, and he knows all the best parks and waterholes. With a master’s in Digital Culture, he is currently applying for multiple available PhD positions around the country while studying English literature and culture at the University of Bergen and working at the University Museum for Natural History. His favourite pastimes are hiking in the mountains, swimming, bowling, and frisbee.

Dane

Hailing from Norway’s capital and Bergen’s eternal rival city Oslo, Dane moved here in 2013 intending to stay for a maximum of three years. Over a decade later he’s still here, having studied history at the local university and fallen in love with the city (though well aware that with him being from Oslo, that is a feeling that will never be reciprocated).

Neil

Born in England I moved to Bergen in 1994 to help set up a daughter company for the Scottish people I worked for. I´ve been here ever since. Eventually the company moved to Haugesund, we tried it there but missed Bergen too much, so we returned, and I started guiding in 2015. I love it and wouldn’t change my job for anything. Bergen is magical, it has it all. Apart from guiding, my favourite pastime is walking my dog in the mountains and forests around Bergen.

Neal

Neal fell in love with Bergen about 15 years ago and finally gave up and exchanged London for Bergen in the spring of 2022. He’s a musician/artist, communicator and story teller who gets excited about the history of Bergen/Norway and draws on his background in linguistics, radio and music. Was Davy Crockett at Disneyland California and went to the cinema with Queen Elizabeth II while he was living in London.

Serena

Serena, born and raised in Italy, started her journey as a tourist guide in Rome as a volunteer for F.A.I. ( Fondo Ambiente Italiano). Her love for Scandinavian languages brought her to Norway in 2015, and since 2016, she’s been a registered tourist guide in Bergen, working mostly in English, Italian, and Sarcasm.
She likes to fill her tours with fun facts, a sense of humor and smiles.

Andrea

Following my husband’s dream of living in Norway, I moved to Bergen in the fall of 2013. In no time, I was totally in love with this charming place. I already started guiding the following summer, and this fun summer job soon became a serious full-time one. Feeling just as enthusiastic as I felt on day one, can’t wait to show you our beautiful and picturesque city!

Judith

I’m Judith, originally from Germany and now happily living in beautiful Bergen. I work as a high school teacher, specializing in German and sports, but I also have a passion for sharing culture, history, and local stories as a tour guide.

With many years of experience leading school groups, I know how to make a tour both educational and fun — always with a personal touch. Whether you’re exploring Bergen for the first time or diving deeper into its Hanseatic past, I look forward to showing you the city through my eyes.

Jordan

Jordan grew up on the Canadian prairies and lived in Montreal and Toronto before becoming a Bergenser four years ago. He is trained as a researcher and teacher of American literature, but he also loves the language and literature of Norway. In Bergen, he has discovered a passion for hiking, a fascination with the local architecture, and a fashion sense based on rubber boots. He is a proud eater of traditional Norwegian food.

Ravi

Meet Ravi, an experienced tour leader who has lived in Bergen, Norway, for many years. With a deep appreciation for the city’s rich history and breathtaking landscapes, he leads engaging tours showcasing Bergen’s best. Ravi has explored various cities across Norway, gaining valuable insights he loves sharing with travellers. Before settling in Bergen, he spent many years leading tours in Australia, Malaysia, and India, enriching his understanding of diverse cultures.
